Jubilee Celebrations - 2020
On July 26th, Sr. Giovannina Gemin celebrated her
75th Anniversary as a
Franciscan Missionary Sister of the Sacred Heart.
Sr. Giovannina Gemin, once known by her religious name of Sr. Reginalda, came to the United States from Italy in January of 1948. Sister began working in the kitchen, preparing food for 600 children of St. Joseph's Home and fro 100 of our Sisters living
in Peekskill. She retired in 2005 and now resides in our Infirmary.
THANK YOU, Sister, for your loving service to all of us!
On Saturday, September 19th, our Provincial,
Sr. Laura Morgan, celebrated her 50th Jubilee in our Motherhouse Chapel.
We were limited in number as we followed COVID regulations, but were able to come together and thank God for so many graces Sister has been given throughout her life. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Anthony Ciorra, along with Fr. Pat Dunne, Msgr. Dermot Brennan, Fr. Tom Kreiser (her former student!), & Fr. Lorenzo Laboy.
The choir from Holy Spirit Parish in Cortlandt Manor provided us with the best of music and the presence of Jesus filled all of our hearts. Following Mass, we had a PowerPoint of her journey, all centered around the chosen theme: Grateful-Thankful-Blessed.
In the true Franciscan spirit, we continued celebrating in the dining room. It was truly a time for her to give thanks for her life and vocation; grateful for the ability to say YES to God’s call and to attempt to bring the presence of a loving God to so many people: children, the sick, the imprisioned, the aging, the dying, and to the members of our religious community. Thank you, family, friends, Sisters, and all who bless her by showing her
the presence of Jesus as we all journey together.
